Grupo Arbulu attends the V National Maritime Congress in Madrid, organized by the Royal Spanish Naval League and the Spanish Maritime Cluster, with the motto “A Blue Future”. During these two days, in the different round tables, topics of great importance for the maritime sector were discussed. At the end of the day took place the brilliant cultural conference on the figure of Jorge Juan on the 250th anniversary of his death and on the measurement of the meridian arc, given by D. Marcelino González, Captain of the Navio, and D. Jose María Trevino, Admiral.
The round table on “The Spanish fishing sector in Brussels” moderated by our CEO Iñaki Arbulu included the speakers Javier Garat Perez, Secretary General of Cepesca – Spanish Fisheries Confederation, Juan Manuel Vieities, President of the Confederation of Galician Entrepreneurs (CEG ) and Jose Basilio Otero Rodriguez, President of the NATIONAL FEDERATION OF FISHERMEN’S ASSOCIATIONS. In it, highly topical and relevant issues were discussed: the replacement in the General Secretariat for Fisheries/MAPA, the Common Fisheries Policy of the European Commission and the Implementing Regulation with the closure of 87 Atlantic fishing areas, the inexplicable inclusion of the blue shark in Appendix II of CITES and the problem of generational turnover of both crew members and shipowners, among others. The session generated a lot of expectation and interest and left no one indifferent!
The companies of Grupo Arbulu, Nautical, Aage Hempel Group, SILECMAR and Marine Instruments also attended the Congress.
