Thalos exhibited in Itechmer, one of the most important trade fairs in the fisheries sector that was held in Lorient from October 6 to 8. At their stand, Thalos had the opportunity to exchange impressions with their clients and present their new products. Itechmer was the first opportunity for the fishing sector to meet since the start of the health crisis. Although attendance was lower than two years ago, with fewer foreign visitors, Thalos was able to celebrate its 20th anniversary with most of its clients.
ITECHMER is the only international trade fair in France dedicated to technologies, equipment and services in the fisheries sector.
From capture / production to processing, from shipbuilding to marketing, including R&D, training, administration, ports … The show is a representative showcase of the sector, of its latest developments and innovations. Firstly, it is an economic and institutional meeting. Secondly, ITECHMER offers business and exchange opportunities and a place for discussion around the issues of the sector. A show rooted in the region and a vector of economic development. Its a Biennial fair which will be the 14th edition in 2021.
ITECHMER has been, since its creation, carried by the territory and by the actors of the Lorient fishing industry. The leading fishing port in value, the leading fishing port in Brittany and the leading landing port for shrimp. It is the fishing port of Lorient-Keroman and represents an economic sector of 3,000 jobs and 275 companies and a fleet of 130 vessels, for instance. Nearly 23,000 tonnes of fresh fish were landed by more than 300 vessels in 2019 and 80 to 100,000 tonnes of seafood pass through it each year. Since 2007, the port of Lorient has been owned by the Brittany Region, which has entrusted its management to SEM Lorient-Keroman, of which Lorient-Agglomeration is the majority shareholder.
