On February 12th, the VI National Maritime Congress will host a roundtable focused on one of the most crucial issues for the future of the fishing sector: generational replacement and sustainability.
During this session, key questions will be raised, such as whether it is feasible to talk about generational replacement in a sector whose sustainability is constantly under scrutiny, and what measures can be taken to ensure a solid future for fishing that will attract new generations of professionals.
The panel will feature leading experts in the field, who will share their perspectives on these and other challenges:
🔹 Isabel Artime García – General Secretary of Fisheries at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food
🔹 Javier Garat Pérez – Cepesca – Spanish Fisheries Confederation
🔹 José Basilio Otero Rodríguez – National Federation of Fishermen’s Guilds
🔹 Rosa Quintana – Member of Parliament for the Popular Party and Spokesperson for Fisheries in Congress
The roundtable will be moderated by our CEO, Iñaki Arbulu, founder of Arbulu Academy, an initiative aimed at preparing the next generation of maritime sector professionals to face industry challenges and contribute to its sustainability.
This event promises to be a unique opportunity to discuss the future of fishing and how to address the key challenges that impact both the sustainability of the sector and its ability to attract young talent.
